NumberResearch.org is a research publication focused on the North American Numbering Plan (NANP), which serves the United States, Canada, and Caribbean jurisdictions. Our mission is simple: make North American numbering data traceable and useful.

What we do

Numbering data — area code assignments, central office code allocations, exhaust forecasts, and planning changes — is published by administrators and regulators across many documents, formats, and update cycles. We collect that public data, normalize it, track how it changes over time, and present it in a form that practitioners can actually use and verify.

• We maintain structured, dated datasets derived from official public sources.
• We record changes over time, so a claim made today can be checked against the source file it came from.
• We publish explanatory research on numbering topics, written for industry professionals: carriers, telecom engineers, regulatory analysts, journalists, and researchers.

What we are not

We are a publication, not an administrator or a standards body. We do not assign numbering resources, and nothing we publish is an official record. The authoritative sources remain the numbering administrators and regulators themselves; our role is to make their public output easier to trace, compare, and cite. Principles

• Traceability first. Every fact we publish should be traceable to an identifiable official source and a file date.
• Corrections over defensiveness. When we are wrong, we say so and fix it. See our Corrections Policy.
